Your First Movie

Ok. So when you were you two months old we took you to see Night at the Museum on Christmas Day. But this was your first real movie. And it was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs! Saturday morning—$1 at Holiday Cinemas in Frederick. You wanted a Kit Kat. You sat on mommy's lap the entire movie. Not sure if you enjoyed it—but you were quiet and so good!

Willa's First Thanksgiving

You liked: turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, applesauce ... basically everything.

What you say we get at the market: doughnuts.

Parent/Teacher Conference Day

Last Friday school was closed and we met with Miss. Marcia and Miss. Meg to talk about you. You hung out with Marin—and Willa came with us. Even though you are only 3—it still made mommy nervous sitting across from two of your teachers! But we got (mostly) rave reviews. You are doing a little better on the potty. You've had some good weeks where you stay dry until they put you on the potty and you can pull down your own pants and underwear. We need to get better at home about forcing you on the potty every 30 minutes. Of course if we ask you say no. Because, well, you'd always rather play. You enjoy alone time at school—working on a task with any interruption. While Marin is your best buddy you do love the boys. They said toy time = boy time. No girls allowed. You love to color but hate getting paint on your hands. You are speaking in full sentences. Your stutter seems to be under control. You can be crazy shy. You hate being the center of attention but love being the "example." Miss. Marcia called it the "star student." They use you to show everyone how to: roll up their mats, put away their toys, etc. You can pick your name out. And have made a ton of improvement since you started at school back in April. You are very polite. And perhaps most surprising: Ask for seconds at lunch.

H1N1

... scares the bejesus out of me. You are both now vaccinated. Your ped office finally got them and we went yesterday. Willa also got her second flu shot. There is so much info out there. I hope we did the right thing. I feel like we did. I feel like you have a little more protection against the big bad world.

Your Skin Part 348

Your hand was looking really bad. Your eyes were looking pretty bad. Several mornings we'd find blood in your crib from the excessive scratching. It made mommy want to cry. We decided to try a new dermatologist and on a whim mommy also called over to the pediatric dermatology department at Hopkins where they were taking appointments—for January. But then, a cancellation for last week. We bit. Went to see Dr. Cohen on a rainy Thursday. Mommy brought the huge bag of lotions and potions we've been using. The nurse practitioner was amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable. And you were a little snotty (as in actual buggers) but very silly. We've gotten rid of most of the creams. Regular Desitin for the diaper rash. A new cream and wet sock for your hand. Aquafor and Vaseline for your face. A daily bath and shampoo for your head. A medicine to help you (and mommy0 sleep at night. Almost a week later there is a vast improvement. However, I know not to get ahead of myself. You still seem itchy. Some old patches are looking dry again. But I feel like we have some hope. We go back in a few months.

Half-Pints

Mommy & Milo went to Whole Foods and made a centerpiece and chicken pot pie or "chicken hot pie" as Milo calls it. It was actually quite good. Though first it ran all over the inside of the oven and smoked out the house and all the fire alarms went off.
