M&M&C

Milo, Marla & Cooper.

August 2007 (Marla's baptism), October 2007 (Milo's first birthday party), and April 2008 (Marla's first birthday weekend.)

Big Boy

Mommy realized what a big boy you were this weekend, after seeing you hang out with the babes. You truly are a toddler.

Word Play

Other words Milo said this weekend in Connecticut: sock, more, nose. And "stay out" which will get plenty of use in his teenage years.

Nora

The first girls name Milo has ever said. Actually, the first name Milo has said.

Happy Day

As soon as the Tot Lot was in your sight tonight you started screeching. You were so happy. Literally, ear piercing screeches. You love playing with the big cars. You get in, back up, get out. Get in, back up, get out. You also like to "mow" the asphalt. And go down the slide. And see the other kids. And mommy likes it because it wears you out before bedtime!

Sesame Street

You heart this show. When the opening credits start rolling (a little before 8 AM) you go nuts. You smile. You laugh. You jump. I know TV is suppose to be evil—but I cannot deny your joy.

Why I Love You

This morning while mommy was drying her hair (and daddy was on a train to NYC) you kept yourself busy in the bathroom by wearing a giant headband and shaking nail polish bottles. I can't wait to retell this story when you're 15.

Milo & the Big Kids

Milo had a great time celebrating Passover 2008 with grandma and poppy, cousin Brian, Dif and the Mandell's. (Dif & the Mandell's—sounds like an alt country band.) But his greatest joy came from being with the big kids. On Sunday, big bro Mason let Milo play with his Hot Wheels, but Milo's big highlight was with cousins Charles and Chrysalis. Chrissy, in particular, was quite taken with the little dude. She liked to carry him and feed him and play with him. She had Milo belly laughing when she danced with him. C & C pushed Milo around on his little car and they read him books and didn't complain (to much) when he caused a racket before going to bed after Seder #1. He can't wait to visit them at the beach this summer.

When Milo Was a Little Matzah Ball

Having just celebrated Milo's second Passover (outside the womb,) mommy thought it would be nice to look back on last year's festivities.

From Daddy in California

I miss him soooo much. How is my fat little guy?

Pool Shark

We survived. Not only did we survive - but we rocked. You were so excited I could barely hold you back from jumping into the pool. Mommy managed to get us there on time, in our swim suits. Jo (our awesome Irish lass from Saturdays) was teaching the class. We met lots of nice people—including a feisty little girl named Lucinda. And we saw some familiar faces from the library. Jo used you as her example for most of her instructions. You're still not a big fan of lying on your back. But you love to go under the water. My brave boy!

Mommy & the Pool

Daddy managed to take you to every Saturday swimming class for two sessions (that's 12 classes.) Mommy switched you to Wednesday classes so you could do music on Saturdays. And now daddy is in California "meeting" and mommy has to put on her bathing suit. And get in the water. And she has no one to blame but herself.

Why I Love You

You have, quite possibly, the cutest voice I have ever heard. Non-biasely speaking, of course.

Moe

This is what you call Elmo.

Why I Love You

I love how you "taste test" your pacifiers. Each one gets a few sucks before you determine the worthy paci.

From Aunt Bethie

"i felt like milo last night eating green beans and olives and a yobaby this morning, the peach flavor is good!"

Little Liam

Mason is a big brother. And Milo has a new friend. Liam Michael Kershner was born today at 1:55 PM. 7 lbs, 6 oz., 20 1/4 inches tall.

Mommy went to see him on Wednesday afternoon and said he is perfect.

Flying Milo II

Mommy was scared to fly home with Milo after our other flight. But this one has a happier ending. We scored a front row seat! Next to the two nicest grandmas in the world! The flight attendant's were lovely. Milo spent most of the flight flirting with one of the attendants. (And she flirted back.) We took a few walks up and down the aisle and Milo played with his books and toys. But back to our magical seat mates. They let Milo look out the window, play with their hands, their cups, and at one point everyone in our row was singing Itsy Bitsy Spider. As I was getting off the flight, another passenger asked if one of the women was my grandmother. That is how lovely they were to us.

Milo in Austin

(Captions: Milo and the wildflowers. With Uncle Glenn. On the train with mommy. Going down the big slide with Aunt Beth. Milo loves birds. At the children's museum.)

Flying Milo

Let's just say that our flight to Austin ended with mommy needing a margarita (which Aunt Beth quickly complied with.) It started with you being all cute at the airport and doing your #2 before we got on the plane (thank you baby!) Since Southwest decided that it was smarter to let parents board with everyone else (god forbid we have a few minutes to fold our strollers and settle our kids before the masses), mommy managed to juggle you, a diaper bag, a bag of tricks and a stroller toward the plane. We got an aisle seat and sat next to two very nice men who talked basketball recruiting the whole way and did attempt to help mommy a bit during the flight. To make a long story short—you HATED sitting on my lap. You want to wander and play in the aisle and kick the seat in front of us. During turbulence, when the seat belt sign went on and you were forced to comply, you SCREAMED for a good 20 minutes straight. The flight attendant came up to mommy and said, "Is there anything we can do? I can hear him clear to the front of the plane." He would not, however, pour you the Scotch like I asked. Your fat cheeks and cute curls saved the day because everyone still fawned over you even though they had to turn the volume up on their iPods.

Little Sprout

Your first haircut (in 17 months of life) happened on Thursday, April 3rd at 4:15. We took you to our salon—Sprout—so Leah could work her magic. You were such a good boy. You let her comb and snip and razor your beautiful hair. You sat on daddy's lap and just turned your head a little bit when you weren't suppose to, but for the most part you were excellent. I think you knew it was for a good reason. We got rid of all your dreads. And mommy kept one and some curls for your baby book. And when Leah was done. You looked even more handsome. If that's possible! You also found the time to flirt with all the ladies at the shop.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Milo tomorrow you're getting your first haircut. Ever. Mommy has mixed feelings about this. I love your hair. I love smelling your shampoo and brushing it and playing with your curls. But your curls are getting all nappy and turning into mini dreads and mommy can't even brush through them. Your hair on the side has turned into wings—like Farrah Fawcett. And yes, folks have been calling you "she" more and more these days. But your hair is you.
