Sick

Fever. "More medicine mommy." No fever. Play. Fever. Watch TV. "More medicine, mommy." Play. Repeat.

Our Great Day

Mt. Vernon Playground, pizza at Iggie's, Baltimore Book Festival. City living is good.

Why I Love You

Countdown to Halloween Starts Now

Milo first wanted to be a pirate. But now he wants to be a fireman. "Because they help people." To tide us over, a $3 mask. This morning he told me he was a friendly monster.

Throw Pillows & Boy For Sale

The $30 Haircut

Milo was starting to look like a homeless man. Or at least like he wasn't bathed daily. Time to call "Yee ya" (Leah) at Sprout. We couldn't bear to cut off the curls—but we tamed the beast. And got rid of the dreads (yes, two—and mommy had already cut off some weeks ago.) And now he looks like a boy. Cut to Book Festival three hours later: "Does the little girl want to make a sticker book?"

What You Just Said

Mommy: Are you ready to go get bagels?
Milo: Nooooo. (Like I'm so funny!) I'm pooping!

Willy

What Milo calls Willa.

About Last Nights

We've been all over the place. One night everyone slept until 7 AM. Mommy came in to find Milo peeking into Willa's crib having a conversation with her. One morning, Milo opened his own door and came into the hallway to see a surprised mommy. Most nights Willa goes back and forth between our room and her room. We need to get her to spend the entire night in her crib. Milo is doing so much better than I ever thought he would. Sleeping through the night and for the most part he stays in bed once placed. He can be loud when he's going to sleep and some nights wakes up Willa—but one of my favorite things is to eavesdrop when he's in bed talking to and playing with his toys.

Guilty

Of sometimes skipping pages when I'm reading a really long book to Milo.

Guilty

Of always loving but not always liking my kids.

The Truth

Sometimes I look at my kids and can't believe I'm the mom.

Two Reasons to Have a Girl: Dresses & Tights

Skin

My poor baby. Diaper rash seems under control. (For now.) Was it the fourth cream? The chroline-free diapers? Time? Your hot spots come and go. But still you are delicious.

It Makes My Heart Hurt How Much I Love You

Love that face ...

Fruit

Loves her apples and strawberries.

One of those days when you love the weather, your city, and the kids act really good too.

We spent the day at the zoo with Willa's playgroup. Daddy was on his way to San Diego so it was just the three of us.

About Last Night ... (Part Two)

We got home late from Rosh Hashana ... but M&W shared the room AGAIN from about 10 PM until 5 AM when Ms. WIlla was bucking and yelling in her crib. She slept until 6:45 ... he went until 7:45 when he knocked on his door (it was shut) to let us know he was up.

About Last Night ...

Success! The kids slept in the same room between the hours of 8:30-5:30!!! Amazing. Once we had Willa in her room (she was doing the bucking bronco move) she slept until almost 7:30. So did Milo. We're getting there.

Bedtime

Tonight we played Milo as mommy and mommy and daddy as baby. Milo read to us. Ordered us around ("Mommy, you read the book to yourself. Eyes closed mommy!") told us he was going downstairs to make dinner. He thought it was hilarious to find a copy of Green Eggs and Ham in daddy's night stand, "This is a comic. It's an adult book daddy." He tucked us in and answered our demands (new blankie, more books, no books, wrong blankie) and was very happy to let us sleep and him go downstairs and play. He only got upset when he realized in reality HE was the one going to sleep.
