Limu the Blue Turtle
Milo's new favorite book. He asks for it by name. Also from Aunt Beth. It's an oldie, from her honeymoon in Hawaii. We read it every night before bed. When the turtle cries in the book, Milo looks up concerned, rubs your face and says, "It's OK mommy/daddy." Also, we now know about 'opihi: a prized delicacy in the islands, but just a sad little shellfish in the book who wants to visit her sister.

Willa's 15 Minutes
Today mommy did some TV spots for Baltimore Bride's Aisle Style event. When she got to WMAR Channel 2 for Good Morning Maryland, anchor Jamie Costello asked if he could "have the baby." Mommy obliged and they plopped you down in your carseat on the coffee table in the middle of the set. When he and co-anchor Megan Pringle opened the show they mentioned you! Jamie: Things move quick around here. I asked for coffee mugs and we got a baby. They said "Willa Diamond" and they mentioned your brother "Milo" at home. They kept the camera on you for the first few minutes. They said that your mom was there to talk about the bride event. Mommy was beaming. And you were soooo good! You were asleep and when they turned the lights on you woke up ... but just sucked on your pacifier and slowly fell back asleep. My little star.

Tame the Mane
No wonder you looked like a beast! You haven't had a haircut since November. This was haircut #5 in your life. Per usual you were not happy about having to sit there. First, mommy sprayed your hair and combed it. (And you "sprayed" Willa's hair.) Next, Leah went to town. Mommy showed you pictures of yourself on the camera to keep you occupied. The final result? You are so handsome.

Kid Zone. A Bust.
So, daddy took Milo to gym class today. Everyone was excited. But this time Milo cried and cried and cried. And eventually daddy had to take him home.

More Milo-isims
I love it. (Said about a random shirt, book at bedtime, fave snack.)
It's dark in 'dare. (Milo likes to point out all dark areas. He's very safety concious.)
I go home/I don't wanna go home. (Said when the opposite is about to happen.)
Where'd my Willa go? (I LOVE this one! Because he finally cares. Although sometimes he says it when he's sitting next to her.)

Willa @ 2 Months
Willa is now 8 weeks old! We can't believe our baby girl is so old! She has the most beautiful smile we have ever seen on a baby. She smiles with her whole face (gee, sounds like her brother.) She has gorgeous blue eyes, though we're not sure they'll stay blue. Like any good girl, she is an expert pouter. We love that bottom lip. She has conversations with us (we coo back and forth) and if you stick your tongue at her she'll return the favor.
She weighs 9 pounds and 13 1/2 ounces, which is in the 25th percentile, but at 22 1/4 inch she's 50th percentile with height (tall and skinny, not bad.) Dr. W was very impressed with Willa's focusing and head control. (That tummy time is paying off.) Willa still has red on her eyelids, but Dr. W said it's just her sensitive skin (sorry, kid) and will eventually go away. We talked about Willa not pooping, well every six days or so and all her gas! And her ugly foot. Although utterly perfect, Willa's left foot is a mess of itty bitty toes, barely there toenails and a hot mess of other things. We go in April to see a pediatric orthopedic doc at Hopkins.
She is sleeing like a champ in her co-sleeper and gets a bath at least once a week. Or when she poops. She likes to keep her fists clenched and has the hand lint to prove it. Her hair is steadily falling out.
Mommy and Willa made it 8 weeks with breastfeeding. So far, so good. She usually eats every three hours during the day and about four hours at night.
Willa loves her brother. Her face lights up, she smiles, she follows his every move. As Dr. W said, we're not her favorite people. He is.

JANUARY 2009
So, when Milo was born, Coco Glenn's mommy and daddy sent him some PJ's. The material is super comfy and the color a yummy blue. They work in the hot months and the cold months. I swear he started wearing them when he was six months old. Almost two years later, they still fit! Perfectly. We don't try to understand it. We just accept it.

Willa's Friends
Guilty
... of buying Wonder Pet fruit treats AND Goldfish to get through a food shopping trip with Milo.
Kid Zone
On Fridays, Milo is taking a class at the gym. It's 45 minutes long and the mommies drop off the kids and have to vacate the area. There were a few tears from some kids, but Milo walked right into the room and had a ball. No, really. There were balls. Bouncy balls and basketballs. And "nu-nu's" (noodles) that he rolled around. Here's what Milo says:
Mommy: Milo, what did you do with the balls?
Milo: Catch it.
Mommy: What did you do with the noodles?
Milo: Throw it.
After the class he came running over and said: MOMMY, I DID IT! And the whole way home: I did it. He was so proud of himself. But mommy was even prouder.

Milo Goes to School
It's official. Milo will start school in April. After lots of stressful nights, and getting wait listed at a few different nursery schools, we got into the Baltimore Montessori School at Locust Point! It is so freaking cute: white lockers lining the hallway, cute classrooms, a light filled lunchroom, fenced in backyard. Right across the street from a park. (The Montessori curriculum includes Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Culture. Plus, Spanish as a second language, music, art, cooking, sand and water activities, an outdoor playground and gymnastics.) And Marin will be going to the same school. They will even share a locker. As Milo says, "I go school with Marin." Later that night after our tour, as Ron was telling Milo all about the school, he looked at Ron and said, "Daddy, I so happy." Makes my heart happy. Even though I get a little weepy thinking about my baby starting school.

Two XS Jews
Willa attended her first services at Beit Tikvah, a reconstructionist temple in Roland Park. Rabbi Liz will be performing Willa's baby naming at the end of the month. There was lots of music and when Rabbi Liz was done singing, Milo clapped and said "good job." Despite our loudness, everyone seemed tickled to see two new kids at services.

Mommy & Milo Date
Snow
I thought we had been blown it again. Buy snow boots and snow pants for Milo and get ZERO snow the entire winter. We haven't had a good snow since February 11th, 2006—that was the weekend of mommy's 30th birthday party PRE-Milo. We're only suppose to get somewhere between 3-6 inches, but hopefully enough for the boots to get one good use. Then they'll go into the storage unit for Willa.
