It was bound to happen, what with daddy and brother sick. The cough started Tuesday afternoon and by Wednesday we knew Willa Bear was not 100%. The fever was around 99.5 the first time we took it and quickly jumped to 100.4. We talked to Dr. W and she said we should take Willa to GBMC's ER to be checked for an infection. Daddy stayed home with Milo and mommy and Willa headed to GBMC. We checked in around 8 PM. And we waited. The triage nurse took Willa's temperature and it was up to 101. (Also, we learned you were around 9 1/2 pounds.) And we waited and waited. Around 10 we got a room back in the pediatric ER. A nurse came in and suctioned out a ton of gunk from Willa's nose and they sent it out to be tested for the flu (which is what mommy thought Willa had since Milo was diagnosed with the flu the previous Sunday.) The doc came in and said they wanted to do some more tests to check for an infection—so two nurses came in and did a catheter to get some urine (Willa was not a big fan of that) and took some blood (not a big fan either.) But she really was such a good sport. That was around 11. The results took about an hour. No flu or other infections—thank goodness—but Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)—an icky virus. Which you can do nothing for. We finally got home at 1 AM.
Since, we've been to the doctor twice and so far Willa's lungs are clear and she is hydrated. Her cough and congestion are still pretty terrible and we do lots of suctioning, which none of us like. The worse days of RSV are days three-five, so now that we are at the end of day five, hopefully we'll start to see a big improvement.

Socks
Milo's favorite socks came from the Las Vegas M&M store and his great Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Larry. He calls them his MSN socks. Or sometimes it sounds like this: des-in-em socks.

Full House
Well, they won't like the weather, but the Florida crew is coming tomorrow to meet Willa Evie: grandma, grandpa, Uncle Dave, Aunt Gail, and cousin Brittnie.
Willa Bear @ Five Weeks
You have been smiling so much lately. You have the most beautiful face (and ugly toe.) You still love to eat, eat, eat. You are good (most of the time) at being swaddled and going to sleep after you eat. You like the swing some of the time ... and we've been going to a newborn playgroup with Cate, Nico, Liam, Sophie, Ryan, etc. You don't do much at playgroup (right now you are the youngest) ... but the mommies have fun. Mommy has also been having a lot of fun buying you pretty clothes. And your brother is slowly coming around to you. He likes to pet your head and every now and then, kiss you. We love you so much.
I Sick
Pass
Willa had her follow-up with an audiologist today, after being "referred" AKA failing her hearing test twice in the hospital. She passed with flying colors. Both ears.

From Grandma
Milo was a lot of fun—he has a great sense of humor, likes to laugh and is becoming very articulate. He was very interested in everything at the aquarium and held our hands when we asked him to. And was very good considering how much walking he did. We did pick him up and carry him sometimes—but minimally since he is getting heavy. He is very aware—Dad had gone out to walk the dogs while I was giving Milo breakfast (juice, egg with organic ketchup, toast with organic jelly, cheese, grapes). Then I took him upstairs to get dressed and he was driving his big red car around that he had noticed on the side of the crib (I had the upstairs gate locked). He was in my bedroom and he heard the storm door open and he said, "Poppy's home." Dad hadn't come in or the dogs or opened the front door but he knew he had gone out and by that sound that he was back now—I was impressed with his reasoning skills.

Where's My Willa
Despite not wanting to kiss you, really touch you, or share his stuff with you—your brother asks almost constantly "where's my willa" or "where's my sister" when he can't see you.
Willa's Two Week Check-Up
We went to see Dr. W last week. She said you were doing great. Up- to 7 pounds 14 ounces - way past your original birth weight (7 pounds, 8 ounces) which is what they expect by two weeks. A week-plus later mommy is very curious what your current weight is ...
Tot Lot
Where o where will we put the swing and office and Bumbo and two Boppys and vibrating seat and ....
Lovely
Willa love, mommy has been a slacker. The blog has been pushed aside as I've been getting to know you and watch you and feed you and feed you and feed you. But I'm back. It's hard to believe less than a month ago you were still in momma's belly and yet at the same time it feels like you've been around forever. You were the missing piece of our family. We were needing a Willa. You are such a sweet girl. You only cry when you are hungry or gassy. You love to sleep in bed with your mommy and daddy. (Like your brother.) Right now you mostly just eat, sleep and look around a bit confused and a bit bemused. This is your life.
